Environmental Health and Toxicology

Research profile

Prof. Majorie van Duursen

The research of the Environmental Health and Toxicology research group includes three different biological levels:

1. The LINC mother-childcohort for epidemiological studies;
2. Zebrafish facilities for experimental and mechanistic in vivo studies;
3. In vitro test systems for high‐throughput mechanistic and screening studies.

In research on transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics hypothetic adverse outcome pathways of molecular initiating events are developed via key events to adverse outcomes. These can be further confirmed in test systems, such as transgenic or knockout zebrafish models, cell‐based bioassays, or organ‐on‐a‐chip models, leading to the development of bioassays and biomarkers.
