Aurélien M. Zarca, from France, obtained his B. Sc. Degree in Biochemistry, and his M. Sc. Degree in Biotechnologies in 2013 at Université Joseph Fourier, Grenoble. After graduating, he worked for 18 months at Actelion Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Basel, in CNS Biology department, with focusing on signaling of class A GPCRs subfamily under the supervision of Dr. Xavier Leroy.

Since September 2015, he has been carrying out his Ph. D. under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Martine Smit, Prof. Dr. Rob Leurs and Dr. Henry Vischer at the Division of Medicinal Chemistry, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research is supported by a European Union's Horizon2020 MSCA Program in a Marie Curie ITN (ONCORNET). His research, entitled Differential phosphorylation of CXCR4 and CXCR7, focuses on developing assays to determine cell-type specific phosphorylation profiles and effector proteins, depending on different ligands, to unravel the mechanism of action of recycling/degradation, and working on signaling and screening of novel modulators of those receptors.
