Extraordinary professor

Professor Remco Kort studied Molecular Sciences at Wageningen University and Research and performed his PhD in the field of molecular microbiology at the University of Amsterdam. After post-doctoral research in France, Kort currently holds a position as senior scientist at the Department of Microbiology and Systems Biology of the TNO Earth, Environmental and Life Sciences institute in Zeist. In 2006, Kort started as a scientific advisor for the microZOO for the ARTIS Zoo. Moreover, he is co-founder of the Yoba for Life Foundation. He was awarded Excellent Researcher of the year 2008 at TNO.

Since 2010, Kort is extraordinary professor in Microbial Genomics at the Molecular Cell Physiology research group. The TNO chair Microbial Genomics focuses on composition and activity of microbial populations, their importance for healthy food and interplay with human health.
