Dr. Reza Haydarlou started his study Computer Science at the University of Amsterdam in 1988. In 1993, he obtained his Master’s degree in Computer Architecture. After his graduation, Haydarlou worked for five years as a system programmer for a company supplying hospital information systems. In 1998, he changed his job and started working at a banking enterprise. In 2004, Haydarlou started his PhD research in autonomic computing in the Intelligent Interactive Distributed Systems (IIDS) group of the Department of Computer Science at VU University Amsterdam, alongside his work as an architect.
In 2009, the IIDS group moved to the Systems Engineering Section of the Technology, Policy and Management Faculty of Delft University of Technology, where he finished his PhD research in 2011. During his PhD research (one day a week), Haydarlou presented his research at several international conferences in China, Japan, Greece, the Netherlands and Denmark. He also published his work in several academic proceedings.
In 2012, Haydarlou returned to VU University because of his great passion for Life Sciences. Currently, he works one day a week at the Integrative Bioinformatics research group. His main interests are biological data integration using Semantic Web technologies and pathway-based personalized analysis of high-throughput cancer data.
