AIMMS post-docs, PhD and Master's students have a monthly journal club: the AIMMS journal pub. They discuss fun, new and/or interesting papers, for example a paper on mechanical ribosomes or a publication on a camera that can ‘see through walls’. The journal pub name derives from the relaxing setting with drinks and pizza these scientific discussions take place in.
This initiative stimulates AIMMS post-docs, PhD and Master's students to broaden their view on science and to contribute to knowledge on techniques other than they utilize themselves. They extensively discuss one paper each session. The attendees write down their critiques and comments, listing positive and negative aspects of the research paper. This will be discussed with the group to stimulate the young researcher’s abilities to review articles and criticize research, both positively and negatively.
Upcoming journal pubs are announced as events.
