Assistant professor

Dr. ir. J. Chris Vos studied Molecular Sciences at Wageningen University. He received his PhD degree from the University of Amsterdam in 1993 on vaccinia virus gene regulation. He carried out this research at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg (Germany).

He spend two post-doctoral terms at the Dutch Cancer Institute in Amsterdam studying first DNA transposition in Caenorhabditis elegans and secondly the structure of the human protein TAP (Transporter Associated with Antigen Processing). In 2000, he moved to the Division of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at VU University Amsterdam, focusing on the macromolecular interactions involved in the biogenesis of ribosomes in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. He is member of the Division of Molecular Toxicology since June 2006, studying stress responses in yeast related to drug exposures, as well as drug metabolism (and related toxicity) in human hepatocytes.
