To increase the quality of its research programmes while offering ambitious post-docs career opportunities, AIMMS will promote itself extensively as an attractive host, creating a dedicated international network for spotting talented post-doc candidates. Moreover, it will actively stimulate and coach post-docs to compete for personal grant programmes at the national (e.g., Veni-, Vidi- and Vici-programmes) and international (e.g., Marie-Curie fellowships, ERC grants) level. Successful competition in these prestigious programmes will be an important instrument in personal career development and in achieving tenure. The size of AIMMS and the synergy of its research programmes clearly offer new opportunities.
Many AIMMS groups participate in EU Marie Curie, in EU COST and EU IMI-JU training programmes or are part of other international educational programmes. These programmes are important for strengthening the international profile of the institute and are crucial for spotting new PhD- and post-doc talent. They will enable this category of scientists to pursue these prestigious personal research grants. AIMMS participants are already coordinators of several of these programmes (e.g. Mariwill. IRTG, SafeSciMET).
There are currently about 40 post-docs contributing to projects within the research groups participating in AIMMS.
