Education & training and spotting talent

The success of a research institute depends largely on the quality of its ‘human capital’, and AIMMS puts a high premium on highest-quality education for its MSc- and PhD students. At the same time, AIMMS is an attractive host to talented post-docs and tenured staff, as these are crucially important categories of human scientific capital. The ambition of AIMMS is to contribute to existing as well as future (inter-) faculty graduate programmes, offering research MSc programmes to preparing students for PhD positions and other career opportunities. A strong integration of best research and training will ensure an output of highly qualified graduates at both at MSc and PhD levels.

Research groups participating in AIMMS already play a major role in a range of established and accredited MSc  and PhD programes within FEW and FALW. Moreover, AIMMS participates in several acclaimed graduate research schools such as LACDR, HRSMC, NRSCC and BCA. In this context and utilising multiple synergy areas within AIMMS, the institute will develop a new Top Master programme, for instance,  Molecules, Medicines and Systems (working title). The multidisciplinary, simultaneously integrated AIMMS-approach will deliver highly qualified MSc graduates with expertise in the biological processes relevant to life, in health and disease, from molecules via systems all the way up to medicines and diagnostics.
