(Internal) Annual Meeting AIMMS
The first AIMMS Annual Meeting has been a great success!
The Annual Meeting covered two days: i.e. March 31st and at April 1st: the first focussed on AIMMS-members, whereas the second day concerned a programme for external contacts and stakeholders.
Almost 150 persons joined the first day: Q105 was filled with all kind of AIMMS-members: PhD students, master students, teachers, postdocs, professors! They listened to three keynote lectures of AIMMS researchers (Martine Smit, Bas Teusink and Romano Orru) and the final keynote speaker of the day: Guus van Dongen of the VUmc.
Young talent
The Tuinzaal was almost too small for all the posters and animated discussions around them. Overall, the quality of the posters was of a very high level! Three posters were selected as the best posters of this Annual Meeting by a jury.
The chairman of the jury, professor Nicholas Turner who is the director of the Interdisciplinary Biocenter in Manchester and member of the Scientific Advisory Board of AIMMS, awarded the three winners:

Next to the poster competition, there was a PhD competition for oral contributions. Each of the seventeen Chairs of AIMMS has pointed one PhD student and based on the abstracts, six have been chosen to present their results.
The audience scored the six candidates and the winner appeared to be Ewald Edink of the section of Medicinal Chemistry.
The day was closed off with a nice Indonesian buffet and drinks served by the VCSVU students.
